We sharpen all brands and styles of grooming shears. We take your shears through a rigorous process to ensure that they are cutting as best as they possibly can, we even repair damages that may have occurred from previous poorly done sharpening. All of our work is guaranteed!
Here's how the process of sharpening your shears goes:
1. Shears are inspected thoroughly. This is how we determine if we need to correct any major damages, improper angles, and will help us determine what all we need to do to get your shears cutting like new! Note, we will not bend your shears unless we contact you first.
2. Shears are taken apart. This is critical to properly clean, sharpen, hone, and lubricate your shears.
3. Shears are sharpened. During this process we remove the least amount of metal as possible, this is important for the longevity of your shear. We take our time and reestablish the Inside Ride Line of your shear by hand honing on a wet stone. This is what makes your shears cut smoothly. Then we use a Wolff Hira To to begin sharpening each blade.
4. Shears are honed. We finely polish shear edges with a 3 micron diamond paste. This ensures smooth, reliable cutting and an edge that will retain sharpness. There are some styles and types of shears that cut better with a slightly rougher edge. We always hone appropriately for your specific shear.
5. Shears are assembled and lubricated. Your shears are meticulously reassembled. We set the proper tension and ensure your shears are perfectly aligned. At this stage missing or damaged bumpers and washers are replaced.
6. Shears are tested. We always test cut to make sure your shears are cutting perfectly!
